West Bend 55108 3-in-1 Coffee Center, Black and Stainless Review

This machine looks very nice and was built fairly well for the most part, BUT the cappaccino machine needs more steam power for the frother and the rubber piece they have over the froth wand is useless and the machine actually froths better without it. The coffee maker takes forever to brew and the pot and its lid are kind of cheap.

I would NOT recommend this machine.

Jura 67083 Cool Control Milk Cooler Review

A colleague had ordered this and we both have nearly identical Jura automatic espresso machines. We both work from home, so I wanted something that would make my machine a little more automated.

I've purchased wine coolers and other machines which use the same type of induction technology, and I've been 'burned' by them all - breaking down early, not keeping the right temperature, etc.

I've had this device for six months now and I'm still just as pleased with it as the day I unboxed it. Milk is truly kept cold consistently and it's incredibly quiet.

Cons: If you're a Skim milk drinker, and you wait a couple days before using it, I've noticed that the milk can sometimes freeze up or develop ice crystals. I've been able to mitigate this by filling the outer tank with barely just enough water for it to reach the brim when the container is inside of it.

Also, the tube can be a hassle to clean. Sometimes the suction power pulls milk through and lets it sit there in the tube. You have to be conscientious to clean it thoroughly after each use or each day.

Bodum Schiuma Battery-Operated Turbo Milk Frother, Metal Review

This is the second version of this stirrer that I have owned.The previous black plastic version lasted several years with daily use.I anticipate that this newer design will do so as well.

This new metal cased stirrer feels a bit more substantial in the hand and the brushed aluminum case is a bit more secure in your grip than the original plastic case item was if you have wet hands.The stirring attachment at the end of the wand is updated from an "impeller" design to a coiled metal ring design.At first I was not happy that my new stirrer would be different in this way, but with the first use it proved to be a superior mixing apparatus.It mixes the beverage as throughly as the old style did, but does so without creating the whirlpool effect as quickly.Therefore, short bursts with the stirrer will completely mix your beverage without the tendency to overflow.Of course, if you stick it in there and turn it on uninterrupted, you will make a mess.Technology can do only so much to help you.

Batteries last well in this (it uses AA's) and the base seals well to keep moisture out.It's not perfect, but easily acceptable.

My only improvement wish for this item would be for an included wall mount of some sort that the user could hang the item on after use so that the wand could dry without moisture running down it and into the motor base (as happens when it is stood on it's base after use).Over time, that little bit of moisture each day causes enough corrosion of the motor contacts and switch contacts that the item will fail.Figure out how to store it upright and it should last forever.

I have a funny story about my Handpresso that starts at gate security at McCarren International and ends with me trying to explain to some TSA why I need to carry a spare O-ring.

However, rather than bring that into this review, let me just say that when I order a replacement for my confiscated Handpresso, I'll probably pass on the case! I mean, it already resembles some kind of space age peener pump! Why in the world put it in a rifle case? With balls? Why not slap a biohazard symbol on the side while you're at it?
